Join us in Warsaw for Instituent Communitas at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art on 25 January at 7pm.

Artists at Risk (AR)’s Ivor Stodolsky and Marita Muukkonen will share a panel with the artist and former AR-Safe Haven Helsinki Resident Erkan Özgen. The program will include a screening of Özgen’s disturbing and deeply moving work, “Wonderland” (2016). PM/AR showed this work as part of a MOBILE Talk in Helsinki in 2016. Shown as part of the AR-Pavlion in Athens in 2017 (and later at Matadero in Madrid), it subsequently became a key work of  the Istanbul Biennial in 2017.  It has since found its way into major collections, including those of Tate and the Saastamoinen Foundation. This iconic work, which goes far beyond its origins in the plight of civilians in the Kurdish region of Rojava – so terrifyingly real in the news at this very moment – talks about the horrors of war, childhood, language and the lack thereof, and perhaps even healing.

Instituent Communitas is curated by Dorian Batycka, an artist, writer and curator. AR is co-founded and directed by Ivor Stodolsky and Marita Muukkonen of Perpetuum Mobile.
