Dear friend of Arkadia,

You are invited by AR-Resident to Talk in the community: Sculptor Spartak Khachanov at Arkadia on Tuesday 16.4. at 5pm at Arkadia (Nervanderinkatu 11).

Spartak Khachanov is a sculptor and contemporary artist from Kiev. His visually, politically and emotionally charged works are made in a variety of materials and genres.
Khachanov’s talk at Arkadia Bookshop will give an overview of his work as an artist in three phases. Firstly, as a Ukrainian of Armenian descent he will address his work on the Armenian genocide. Secondly, he will talk about his large-scale public sculpture work commissioned by the psychiatric hospital in Kiev. Thirdly, he will discuss the events leading to his violent persecution and his flight from Kiev to become a resident of Artists at Risk (AR) Safe Haven in Helsinki.

The talk will be held in Russian with English translation, and introduced and simultaneously translated by Oxana Chelysheva.

Welcome!
Warm regards,
Ian
