Artists at Risk (AR) is delighted to welcome Nośna Foundation, a non-profit art gallery and independent art space in Kraków, Poland, to the network of AR-Safe Haven Residencies. The residency is co-financed by the City of Kraków. As part of the AR-Network it will be supported by the AR-Secretariat, funded by Kone Foundation.
Nośna Foundation promotes new developments in art and culture, and supports experimental and socially engaged art on a local as well as international level.
The space at Nośna Foundation is often dedicated to such topics as feminism, LGBTQA+, environment, power relations, self-publishing, design, graffiti and urban space, and knowledge creation. Nośna Foundation is involved in cultural education, publishing activities and actions for the integration of the creative, academic and social circles. It works with grassroots initiatives and independent projects in artistic and cultural activities.
The residency will be hosted online, due to the continuing travel restrictions in the wake of Covid-19. The AR-Resident will create a work of art during the residency in the medium of film, video, documented performance or a photography project to be presented online. There will also be an opportunity to present a recorded lecture or text with visual materials.
The AR-Resident is jointly selected by Nośna Foundation and the City of Kraków.
