Hossam Fazulla is a researcher, filmmaker, and producer from Cairo, based in London. Fazulla’s work merges art and new media with human rights and social justice. Fazulla has worked for academic and human rights institutions, such as the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS), the Association for Freedom of Thought and Expression (AFTE), the MedCulture program by the European Union, and Essex University, Department of Film, Literature and Theatre Studies. Besides being the Middle East and North Africa Digital Consultant for PEN International, Fazulla currently works as a researcher/producer for the BBC World Service’s Hardtalk, amongst other multimedia programmes.
In cooperation with Georgia Beeston, Fazulla is currently in the process of developing a new Artists at Risk (AR)-Safe Haven Residency in London.
