PRESS TEXT:

Artists at Risk to support Ukraine

The current tragic geopolitical situation in Ukraine is terrifying. One of the best humanitarian responses comes from an informal group of international artists. They’ve come together to support the activist non-profit organization ARTISTS at RISK.

Each stellar artist, including Jeremy Deller, Laure Prouvost, Elizabeth Peyton, Pierre Huyghe, Nan Goldin, Cyprien Gaillard, Matthew Barney and many more have donated an artwork as an open edition print. All proceeds from sales will help Artists at Risk facilitate emergency travel, shelter and financial support to help their peers gain safety. Prints are available here www.solidarityprints.org and are priced at 200€ each.

Solidarity Prints for Artists at Risk (AR) is a Donor Advised Foundation Fund (DAF) approved and held by TrustBridge Global Network for and on behalf of Artists at Risk.

ARTISTS at RISK is a network-institution at the intersection of human rights and the arts. As a platform dedicated to persecuted art practitioners, the work of AR encompasses mapping and advocacy of arts professionals at risk, addressing their practical needs and advancing their artistic practice. To achieve this, carefully selected AR-Residents are granted short or longer term temporary relocations at AR-Residencies around the world. AR-Residents are invited as honoured visiting arts professionals. These are art practitioners who not only greatly enrich their host countries, but may be at the heart of rebuilding their often war-torn countries of origin.

ARTISTS at RISK is designed as a network of global scope, and it is undergoing rapid growth. Expanding from its established residency programmes in Helsinki, Berlin and across Europe, it has developed AR-Residencies in 26 locations in 19 countries around the world since 2013. Artists at Risk was the first residency institution of its kind dedicated to all art forms, and from its inception has accepted candidates from fields including the visual arts, film, theatre, dance and music. As an international network of residencies that includes close curatorial support, AR remains unique.
