It is with great pleasure that we welcome our friends and colleagues from Madrid and beyond who have joined together as the new TEJA network of fourteen Spanish institutions to support artists fleeing persecution, war, imprisonment, torture or worse.
The network includes Casa Velázquez, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Community of Madrid, the Reina Sofía National Museum (MNRS), Fundación Montemadrid’s La Casa Encendida, TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Atelier Solar, CAR (Centro de Approach a lo Rural) Campo Adentro, Espositivo, Felipa Manuela, Hablanarte / Planta Alta, Mala Fama Estudios, and Moving Artists, based in Bilbao.
TEJA joins a growing number of national and regional-level networks working closely with Artists at Risk (AR) to provide (decentralized) hosting facilities to candidates applying through our (centralized) application platform.
In the first phase, TEJA will be organizing five residencies lasting between three and six months for artists fleeing Ukraine. Artists should apply through the application form here. Following matchmaking between applicants and hosts through the AR-Ukraine Solidarity Team, artists will be offered accommodation, workspace, maintenance as well as legal advice for any procedure they could need to continue working by the incredible institutions that have already joined TEJA.
