PR & Press – English-native Communications Pro

ARTISTS at RISK (AR) is seeking a committed and versatile individual who is confident in handling a comprehensive press/public relations/copywriting role, alongside liaison and some administrative tasks.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Writing exciting and engaging social media posts, web-posts and press releases
  • Actively engaging with the international media outlets, and managing press releases with a wide network of international partners.
  • Contributing to well-researched longer-form original material for reports and grant applications.
  • Assisting on communications with local, regional and international institutions and partners in the arts and human rights, AR-Residences, AR-Residents, donors, international networks, etc.
  • Administrative responsibilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong skills in public relations and press/media relations.
  • True-native fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Solid, consistent attention to detail.
  • Independent thinking, fact-checking and research skills.
  • The ability to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with a range of social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Meta Business, WordPress, MailChimp, Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, etc.)
  • Familiarity with and adaptation to IT systems and security demands.
  • Interest in contributing to building and developing a steadily-growing international NGO, with hundreds of partnerships around the world.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.

Location: Online (although time-zone differences play a role). A stable internet connection and own home-office equipment are required. Our shared AR/PM office facilities are in Lapinlahti, Helsinki, Finland. 

Job hours: Part-time or full-time, depending on the agreement.

Remuneration: Hourly rate according to location, skill, network and experience.

ARTISTS at RISK (AR) and Ecologists at Risk (ER) are run by Perpetuum Mobile (PM), a non-profit organisation (equivalency determination as a 501c-3) active at the intersection of human rights and the arts. Since 2013, PM has built the mondial AR/ER Network, which encompasses institutions in the arts and non-profits, municipalities, states and international organizations to assist, relocate and fund artists who are at risk of persecution, oppression or fleeing war or terror.

As a global advocate for art practitioners at risk, AR/ER continues to build a broad horizontal network of AR/ER-Safe Haven Residences around the world in coordination with its partners and networks. AR/ER is dedicated to supporting persecuted art practitioners, facilitating their safe passage from their countries of origin, hosting them at AR-Residences and curating related projects, including the AR Pavilion.
