Artists at Risk (AR) and Goethe-Institut honoured their partnership for Ukrainian artists under threat with an event at the intersection of the arts and human rights at Kunsthaus ACUD, the Goethe-Institut in Exile project space in Berlin on 10 December 2022.

Artists at Risk (AR) has so far relocated over 320 Ukrainian principal applicants to hosting organisations in almost all European countries, including 116 AR-Goethe Residents!

Marichka Lukianchuk and Andrew Neretin presented their video installation with a live electronic music performance. This was followed by Maryana Klochko’s performance of an electronic mix together with enchanting vocals. According to 20ft Radio, Klochko’s music is “fragile, soulful vocalisations at the junction of stumbling electronic melancholy, booming beat and synthesised alienation – gloomy romance of loneliness interpreted through dark bunker rave aesthetics and experimental pop music.” The evening was closed by Oleksandr Sirous and human margareeta, who presented a VR/DJ set.

Artists at Risk (AR) and Goethe-Institut were celebrating the success of the AR-GI Matching Portal, in which German cultural institutions offering residencies, grants or work stays are matched with artists and cultural professionals forced to flee Ukraine.
