📢 Artists at Risk (AR) is launching a dedicated AR-Ukraine social media channel 🎉

Ever since curating the “School of the Displaced” at the Kyiv Biennial in 2015, Perpetuum Mobile (PM) has had a special connection to Ukraine. Artists at Risk (AR), run by PM, has been at the forefront of emergency relocations since the full-scale invasion on 24 February 2022.

The new AR-Ukraine Channel carries stories, in English or Ukrainian, from AR-Residents inside Ukraine, around Europe and beyond! Also find open calls and opportunities!

AR has received over 2200 applications from Ukraine and 570 offers of hosting-support since the outbreak of the war. Already in the summer of 2022, AR recognised the need for artist-in-residency infrastructure within Ukraine. The relevance of this strategy was confirmed late last year by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine at UNESCO. As AR knows, so-called “brain–drain” is the reverse side of mobility. AR currently supports 5 AR-Residencies inside Ukraine and is actively developing 8 and pursuing 18 more, especially to host those fleeing the war zones of Kherson, Donetsk and Lugansk.
