In July 2023, Artists at Risk (AR) joined forces with The Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich and HALLE 6 to initiate AR-Munich, a new residency programme for international artists who are at risk of persecution, oppression or fleeing war or terror. The programme began with Ukrainian artist Maryna Levchenko hosted by HALLE 6, an independent art and studio space in Munich’s ‘Kreativquartier’.

An official launch event for the programme will be held at 7pm on 4 October at HALLE 6. The event will include a welcome speech by Anton Biebl, Head of the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich, presentations on Artists at Risk and the Munich Residency, and talks by Maryna Levchenko and Teresa Retzer, a curator at Haus der Kunst.

The Munich Residency Programme for Artists at Risk (AR-Munich) is funded by the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich. This cooperation with Artists at Risk (AR) and HALLE 6 expands the City of Munich’s commitment to creative professionals working in the field of visual arts and beyond.
