Initially launched as an open network, Global Forest has realized various programs since 2016. In May 2018 it was formally established as a non-profit association by a heterogeneous team of artists, curators, scientists, and other cultural workers in St. Georgen. Since then, Global Forest pursues to establish a permanent place for the production and presentation of contemporary art in the rural Black Forest countryside. The artistic direction lies ever since with the board of the association.
