Artists at Risk (AR) has a developing network presence in Zimbabwe through safe house residencies and regional partnerships since 2021.
Harare, Zimbabwe has been the location of an AR-Residency which was remotely hosted by AR. Aside from funding of accommodation and living-grants, AR assisted in providing emergency medical help and school-fees for the resident’s child. The AR-Alumni continue to be assisted in multiple ways remotely, including in applying for further programmes and joining various fora.

In addition to in-country residencies, AR has facilitated regional mobility for Zimbabwean artists at risk. This includes AR-Resident Makesure Choga, who participated in three separate three-month residencies in Zambia, further strengthening AR’s network of safe spaces and opportunities across the region.
