Artists at Risk (AR) is excited to introduce Mariia Nekrasova, a painter from Ukraine currently in residency at Art Factory, supported by the City of Porvoo. After arriving in Porvoo with her children, Nekrasova has found a supportive community among local Finns, Ukrainians, and the residency team. Her time here is spent sketching the city’s charm and working on large-scale paintings in her spacious studio, while also exploring the city and surrounding forests with her children.
Originally from Svitlovodsk, Ukraine, Nekrasova is an artist with a diverse background in the arts, including curatorial work and teaching painting. She holds a degree from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts and has been a member of the Ukrainian National Union of Artists since 2012.
Join us for Mariia Nekrasova’s open studio exhibition on Thursday 24 October from 3pm to 7pm at the Porvoo Kunsthalle, featuring her latest paintings and sketches created during her residency at Art Factory. The open door exhibition will run until 27 October – be sure not to miss it!
Nekrasova also extends her thanks to the curators working with Artists at Risk (AR), especially Natalya Kravchuk and Krista Mikkola, saying, “They have been a great help to me.”
