Join the funeral march against cultural budget cuts in Berlin
The plans to slash Berlin’s cultural budget by over 140 million euros have sparked outrage in the city, around Germany and the cultural scene internationally. The shocking cuts, announced and scheduled for implementation within weeks in January 2025, would destroy entire programmes and, aside from significant job losses, imply the complete closures of small and possibly even large institutions.
If you are in Berlin, join the «Trauermarsch» funeral march in protest of these draconian measures. These cuts jeopardise the livelihoods of countless artists, cultural workers, and institutions that make Berlin a hub of creativity.
When: Friday, 29 November 2024 | 3–6 PM
Where: Starting from the Neptune Fountain, in front of the City Hall
The march, organized by bbk berlin and the Network of Independent Berlin Project Spaces and Initiatives, will begin at 3 PM and pass by the city’s museums before concluding at the Brandenburg Gate. Show solidarity, take a stand and join the march!
