Welcome Ana Jabauri! A distinguished human rights lawyer from Georgia, Ana is the second AR-Resident to participate in the Artists at Risk (AR) Human RIghts Defender pilot programme in Helsinki.

A graduate of the Free University of Tbilisi (2017) and Central European University Budapest (Master’s in Comparative Constitutional Law, 2018), Ana has dedicated her career to the protection and promotion of human rights violations in Georgia. She attended an intensive training course at the HERTIE School of Executive Education in Human Rights Monitoring and Advocacy, and also holds a certificate in European Law and Economics from the Riga Graduate School of Law.

Since 2023, Ana has led critical monitoring teams during Georgia’s turbulent political period, particularly during mass protests against the controversial « foreign agents » legislation. Her fearless documentation of grave human rights breaches at the protests, alongside her role in monitoring the 2024 Parliamentary Elections in Marneuli, exemplifies her unwavering commitment to justice and accountability.

Currently working with the Media Institute, Ana advocates before UN bodies and other international actors, transforming documented violations into powerful calls for action. Her portfolio also includes briefing notes on torture during protests and academic articles exploring the intersection of constitutional law, human rights and humanitarian law.

We are honoured to welcome Ana to AR-Safe Haven Helsinki, where she will continue her vital work in a safe environment.

Our deepest gratitude to our partners the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, the City of Helsinki, and Protectdefenders.eu for making this residency possible and providing Ana with the space to continue her essential advocacy work.
