Artists at Risk (AR)’s Human Rights Defender (HRD) pilot programme resident Ana Jabauri was interviewed by Melvin Londen for Huvudstadsbladet. The programme is an initiative for protecting human rights defenders established in cooperation with the Ministry for Foreign in Finland and the city of Helsinki with key funding from ProtectDefenders.eu.

In the interview, Ana described the alarming situation and human rights violations in Georgia––the police brutality and election frauds. In addition, she shed light on how Georgians have protested against the development of the country, Russian influenced laws, and dishonest elections, and faced repression from the direction of the state.

She also talked about the role Finland, the EU, and the international community in general can take in putting pressure on the Georgian government and show how the world around cares for the development of the country. Finland, for example, has a chance to influence the situation in the OSCE––especially as the chair this year.

Thank you to Huvudstadsbladet and Melvin Londen for interviewing Ana and giving a platform to this important issue.
