Introducing Liza Madi

Liza Madi is a visual artist and interior designer from Palestine, and current AR-Resident at U–jazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw.

Rooted in personal experience and shaped by life under conditions of conflict and displacement, Liza’s artistic practice spans acrylic painting, installation and text, among other formats. Her work explores themes of war, displacement, identity, and memory, focusing on the psychological and emotional impact of unstable environments.

Emerging from fragile, transitional spaces—between what has been lost and what is still forming—Liza approaches art as an ongoing process of research rather than a fixed outcome. In her work connected to place, home, borders, and everyday details, memory plays a central role, transforming personal archives into contemplative spaces open to interpretation.

Liza has participated in group exhibitions across the Middle East and Europe, including multiple pavilions of the Gaza Biennale (2024–2025), as well as exhibitions in Cairo, USA, and at the Goethe Institute.

We warmly thank U–jazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art for welcoming and hosting Liza, and ProtectDefenders.EU for the indispensable financial support.

We wish her a meaningful, inspiring, and enriching stay in Warsaw, filled with space for reflection, creation, and new connections.
