Santiago is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and researcher whose work bridges ecology, art, and the human condition. For years, he has documented Colombia’s biodiversity through extensive field observations of flora and fauna while participating in initiatives focused on native forest conservation, regenerative agriculture and the recovery of traditional food species.
His artistic practice spans sculpture, photography, drawing, writing, exploring themes of fragility, permanence, and the relationship between humans and nature. Working with materials such as ceramics, resin, fiberglass, concrete, charcoal, watercolor and acrylics, he creates works that reflect on ecology, dignity, memory and existential inquiry.
Earlier in his artistic journey, he pursued arts with ceramic sculpture but eventually stepped away after years without access to exhibitions or any institutional support. With the supportive guidance of AR and R.A.R.O. he has been able to reconnect with his artistic identity.

He is the author of the books Hopefully It’s True (Ojalá Sea Cierto) and What Were You Thinking? (En Qué Estabas Pensando), and has published essays in outlets including El Espectador and Las2Orillas. His background also includes work in business administration, project management, and entrepreneurship, with more than two decades of experience across private, public, and academic sectors.
He holds a degree in Business Administration from Pontifical Xavierian University and has combined professional, artistic, and field-based work throughout his career.
