Together with the City of Viitasaari, they are building a new home for contemporary music in Central Finland, and we’re thrilled that the residency programme is among the first concrete steps in bringing this vision to life.
Rooted in the rich cultural legacy of Musiikin aika (Time of Music) —one of Finland’s leading contemporary music festivals since 1977—the residency offers artists the opportunity to work in the inspiring surroundings of the Finnish lake district while connecting with an internationally renowned contemporary music community.
The first AR-Resident from Ukraine, Oksana Ozarchuk, has already been welcomed and is currently in Viitasaari!
We’re grateful to Aikamme musiikki, the City of Viitasaari, The Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture, the Finnish Culture Fund and TAIKE for making this collaboration possible, and we look forward to seeing this residency programme continue to grow as a lasting hub for international artists in the Nordic region.
