David Ngwenyama has worked in international nature conservation for more than 20 years. He has a record of accomplishment developing, leading and contributing to projects with UN bodies, governments, NGOs, academia, private sector & civil society in Eastern and Southern Africa, Europe & North America.
His main areas of expertise include biodiversity assessment, risk and impact assessment/ due diligence, & stakeholder engagement. He has expertise and experience in social & environmental safeguards & standards (Cancun, UNDP, UNREDD, WB/IFC), involuntary resettlement planning and implementation using IFC performance standards, Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment (SESA), the development and implementation of Environmental and Social Management Frameworks and plans (ESMF and ESMP), Safeguard Information System for Zambia, Critical Ecosystem Assessment, climate change mitigation & adaptation, and Single species conservation plan development.
David holds an MSc in Interdisciplinary Ecology, wetlands ecology major, & has completed additional trainings, e.g. in “Strategic Environmental Assessment(SEA)”, “Environmental and Social Monitoring for Hydropower Projects” and “Environmental Valuation methods”.
