
Sofiia Onishchenko is a Ukrainian theater director and actress. She was born in Kyslivka (Kharkiv region). She studied Directing at the Kharkiv College of Culture and Acting at the Kharkiv National University of Arts. Since 2020, she has been an actress at the independent Nafta Theater in Kharkiv.
In 2022, Sofiia co-founded the independent theater GAS. Her work focuses on physical theater, movement, and contemporary Ukrainian stories, including solo and documentary performances (such as Sour-Sweet). She also graduated from the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Wrocław, where she wrote her Master’s thesis about Les Kurbas — one of the first works about Ukrainian theater in the academy’s history.

Her artistic work focuses on physical theater, movement, and contemporary Ukrainian stories (such as Sour-Sweet). During this residency, Sofiia is working on a text about her home village of Kyslivka, which is currently occupied and destroyed by russian forces. This text will be the first written piece to record the history of Kyslivka.
