We’re pleased to share that Marita Muukkonen, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Artists at Risk (AR), will join the Bonn Summit – European Forum on Culture and Politics, taking place 16–18 September 2026 at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn.

The first BONN SUMMIT brings together stakeholders from the arts, culture, academia, politics and civil society to explore the relationship between culture and politics in times of geopolitical power shifts.The summit will be opened by Oleksandra Matviichuk, Head of the Nobel Peace Prize winning Center for Civil Liberties, Kyiv (UA) and Georg Häusler, Director for Culture, Creativity and Sport in the European Commission.
On 17 September, Marita will join the panel “Kulturelle Infrastrukturen unter Beschuss” (Cultural Infrastructures Under Attack), alongside:
- Ferenc Czinki, Author, Society of Hungarian Authors
- Carena Schlewitt, Director, HELLERAU, Dresden
- Jens-Christian Wagner, Director, Gedenkstätte Buchenwald
- Moderated by Friederike Walch, Journalist, Deutschlandradio
The event will start at 10:30.
The panel will explore how artists, cultural institutions, science, media and civil society can respond to growing pressures on cultural infrastructures, and how cross-sector collaboration, resilience and long-term alliances can help strengthen democratic societies.
