Artists at Risk Encounters

Join us on 20 and 21 June at CCCB for Artists at Risk Encounters, an international seminar where artists and cultural professionals discuss art and human rights.

On 20 June, video-essayist Hito Steyerl (a long-time supporter of AR), art historian Nausikaä El-Mecky and Maria Alekhina of PussyRiot (an AR-alumna) will speak about art and freedom in a conversation that will be followed by a performance of Mourning for Narcissus by the Azerbaijani artist Pari Banu. Find out more about the discussion here: https://www.cccb.org/…/hito-steyerl-nausikaa-el…/244981

On 21 June, a seminar with two panels will reflect on the current situation of artists who have suffered censorship or political persecution and discuss possible strategies to be deployed from different projects and cultural institutions. The events are co-organized by CCCB, No Callarem and Artists at Risk (AR), and held as part of Orwell Day and under the auspices of the Artists at Risk Artistic Residencies, thanks to the collaboration between the CCCB and Artists at Risk, which is co-funded by the European Union Creative Europe programme.
