Born in 1966, Olga lives and works in Kyiv. A mathematician by education, psychologist by profession, and artist by vocation, she works in watercolor, sepia, watercolor monotype, pen and ink, Chinese ink, and acrylic, focusing on landscapes, flowers, marine life, and cityscapes. She is a Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 2024) and participates in the Ukrainian art associations “Come Back Alive!” and “Kyiv Pleinairs.”
Since 2022, her practice has responded to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The series “Furious 2022” began in the first weeks of the war, with works often created on the reverse sides of older sheets, reflecting the disruption of daily life. In parallel, “#KyivCityExpress” follows the twenty stations of Kyiv’s urban railway as a tribute to the employees of Ukrzaliznytsia, showing continuity and order through movement. These series continued in Helsinki, where ideas long suspended by the war found new expression and parallels in everyday life.

Olga Karpenko is also a Doctor of Philosophy in socionics and author of the monograph “Statics-Dynamics in Graphics and Picture Tests” (2018), exploring the concepts of statics and dynamics in graphics, painting, and socionics. Through her work, she highlights the fragile yet persistent structures of daily life, affirming their value even in disrupted times.
