We are pleased to welcome SanArte, a project by Lekil Kuxlejal, to the Ecologists at Risk (ER) Latin America Residency Network (ER-RRAL), and to introduce Erick Antonio Lacayo Luna as an ER-Resident at Casa Xitla in Mexico City.
A Nicaraguan painter, Erick has been creating art since the age of 12. His abstract and contemporary work is guided by one powerful message: WORLD PEACE FOR A PLANET WITHOUT WEAPONS. His art explores violence, humanity, Pachamama and the protection of natural resources.
In Nicaragua, Erick’s work and message placed him at risk. Today, at Casa Xitla, he has found a peaceful environment to rest, reflect, and create. During his residency, he is working on The Chronicles of the Man in White, his first book, which he will present at the end of his stay.
SanArte supports artists at risk and experiencing burnout by providing space for wellbeing, reflection, recovery and artistic creation. Through their work at Casa Xitla, they offer artists an environment where they can reconnect with themselves, nature and their creative practice.
