WE ACCEPT URGENT APPLICATIONS AT ANY TIME

AR welcomes applications from art-practitioners from all over the world. We will make every effort to find translation for eligible applicants. We are working on providing our web-pages in several languages. Submissions are possible in all major languages. Nevertheless, for reasons of cost and speed, we strongly prefer English.

Our Public Call is open at all times, and distribute it via all channels. This includes well-known venues in art (such as the contemporary art e-mail lists, such as here and here) as well as multiple other channels, including activist email lists, LGBTQI+ networks, ecological networks, regional, local and specialist human rights listings.

As said, we accept urgent applications at any time. The Public Call is available in

English

Arabic العَرَبِيَّة

Turkish Türkçe

Spanish Español

French Français

Bangla বাংলা

Portuguese Português

  Russian Русский язык

  Belarusian Беларуский

AR-Residencies enable practitioners to take a “breather” from their home country, or to use the programme as a “stepping stone” to re-orient their professional lives. We welcome AR-Residents as honoured visiting art professionals, rather than as asylum seekers or refugees. Artists and other art-practitioners at risk of grievous suppression of freedom of expression, persecution or politically motivated threats to their basic freedoms may apply.

Please do NOT apply to Artists at Risk (AR) if you are not at risk and are simply looking for an artist-in-residency.

AR-Safe Haven Residencies usually include an apartment or studio, a monthly living grant, travel, visa and insurance costs and a limited budget for a production and legal costs. Each residency, however, offers different conditions. Some residencies can support families.
