BIO

doroshenko108 started drawing in childhood and has never stopped. Life took him to study architecture, where he continued drawing although most of his time was up at school. Since then, he has worked at many different jobs, but in essence, he is doing the same thing — realizing his ideas on paper. His images are made with aerosol on paper and he also makes mosaics from concrete and wood because he believes that it is a forgotten artform that should be given the attention it deserves.

Story of experience of risk, relocation and/or exile

Artists’s account: I stayed in Kharkiv for the first 2 weeks of the war and miraculously survived several times. I then moved to Uzhgorod, where I spent a year, then returned home. Now, I am trying to establish a normal life in new realities that are not very inspiring. Among the achievements I can claim during this time are probably that I continued making my artworks in Uzhhorod without materials, and also now when I have returned. So far, I am satisfied with this, because the artistic life in my city is dead, the artists have left, and there are no artistic jobs and no opportunities to hold exhibitions. In the near future, I plan to create a YouTube channel and hold an exhibition in Drohobych. I am grateful to Artists at Risk for supporting me with the project.

Projects created during the residency period

During the residency, the artist worked on a series dedicated to birds, their diversity and differences in their characters, finding new sides to them and enjoying something that can rarely be found in a noisy city.

This programme is organized by Perpetuum Mobile (PM) as part of the Artists at Risk (AR)-Network in partnership with UNESCO and with the support of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Teiger Foundation.
