Marja Karttunen is the director of the Saastamoinen Foundation. She holds a B.A.Sc. in Cultural Management and Production.

Since 1968, Saastamoinen Foundation has supported art and artists, education, and cutting-edge research as well as social projects for children and young people. The promotion of international research, education and networking is one of the foundation’s top priorities. This is done in partnership with the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of the Arts, University of Eastern Finland, and Aalto University and roughly 50 collaborative projects.

The Saastamoinen Foundation Art Collection is one of the major collections in Finland. The Foundation actively collects both Finnish and international art for its collection, which is permanently displayed at EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art. The foundation has been collaborating with Artist at Risk (AR) since 2018.
