She then held a solo exhibition titled, «Rebirth of the Glossy Magazine» at the American House Kyiv, was in a residency at the workshop, «CUT OUT» and organized the collage project, «CUT THE WASTE» to collect funds to help volunteers in Kharkiv. Since 2023, Tretiakova has organized meetings on collage at Ostriv Platform.
Story of experience of risk, relocation and/or exile
Artist’s account: At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, I was in Kyiv and had to leave for a safer city in the west of Ukraine. I lived in Chernivtsi for five months, but without a job and my own place, I returned to Kyiv. I was then a volunteer for a year in the public organization, «No Waste Ukraine». However, I still needed to devote time to creative projects, which is why the residency was very helpful.
Projects created during the residency period
During the residency, Tretiakova held a group exhibition of assemblages titled, «Layers of Contexts». The exhibition presents the works of the participants of the meetings on collage that the artist and her colleague held at Ostriv Platform. Before the opening, they also organized a workshop where the public could try assemblage techniques for themselves and add works to the exhibition if they wished.
This programme is organized by Perpetuum Mobile (PM) as part of the Artists at Risk (AR)-Network in partnership with UNESCO and with the support of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Teiger Foundation.
