We are delighted to introduce Bénédicte Luendo, a singer, songwriter, and performer from Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, in residence at AR-Zanzibar Entertainment Foundation (ZAEF) in Zanzibar.

Bénédicte Luendo discovered music at a young age, singing in church from the age of seven. Her artistic style blends Africanized compas with Kiswahili lyrics, creating a unique fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds. During her AR-Residency at ZAEF, she aims to write and produce an album that tells the stories of those affected by war and displacement, giving a voice to the unheard through music. Her songs transform lived experiences of conflict, resilience, and hope into powerful expressions that resonate across cultures.

Luendo has performed at festivals across the Great Lakes region, including the Musika na Kipaji Festival, Amani Festival, and contributed to collaborative projects such as “Loyembo” and the “Hymn of Fraternity.” Through her music, she seeks to connect communities, inspire dialogue, and promote peace.

During her residency, Bénédicte Luendo is regaining strength and focusing on creating new music inspired by peace, exile, and rebirth, while exploring collaborations with local and international artists to expand her artistic expression.

💫 We wish Luendo an inspiring stay in Zanzibar and look forward to seeing her music and collaborations flourish!
