Artists at Risk (AR) is proud to welcome Mariia Pelishenko to Bremen, where she began her two-month residency at Künstler:innenhaus Bremen!

Born in 2004 in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, Pelishenko has lived and worked in Uzhhorod since 2015. Her artistic practice spans various media and techniques, serving as a means to explore her identity and the social and cultural contexts that shape her environment. She studied at the Transcarpathian Academy of Arts and recently completed a course in new media at Photinus, expanding her creative expression into new forms.

During her residency in Bremen, Pelishenko looks forward to immersing herself in the local art scene, gaining new experiences, and connecting with artists and curators from the region. “Being part of the KH residency means a great deal to me,” she shares. “It’s not only an opportunity to work under supportive conditions, but also a chance to make new connections and grow through fresh experiences.”

Künstler:innenhaus Bremen hosts the Artists in Residence Ukraine program, supporting visual artists affected by the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine. Their two-month residency offers space, financial support, and opportunities to connect with Bremen’s art community through talks, studio visits, and exchanges—fostering collaboration and solidarity across borders.
