This October, NoCallarem / Artists at Risk-Barcelona (AR-B) residents Mahsa Mohebali and Hossein Zoghi are bringing their play CHAH / BADAN to Teatro del Barrio, Madrid.
This multidisciplinary theatre work explores historical memory, political repression, and the female body as a territory of resistance. Moving between ancient myth and contemporary history, the performance gives voice to figures including Medea, Antigone, Qamar-ol-Molouk Vaziri and Tahereh Qurrat al-Ayn, tracing a path from historical wounds to the contemporary “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
Directed by Hossein Zoghi and written by Mahsa Mohebali, the production marks Zoghi’s return to the stage after a ten-year ban on his theatre work in Iran. Together, they transform silence into a space for memory, resistance, and artistic freedom.
