Biography
Mahsa Mohebali is a contemporary Iranian novelist and screenwriter known for her critical literary voice against censorship and social repression. Her work explores marginalised experiences, social trauma, and everyday life under authoritarian pressure in modern Iran.
Mohebali has published multiple novels and short story collections that have been translated into several languages including English, French, Italian, Turkish, Swedish, and Arabic. Her scripts have also received recognition at film festivals in Iran and Italy.
Due to her artistic and political stance, she has faced arrests, interrogation by security authorities linked to the IRGC Intelligence Organization, confiscation of personal materials, and long-term restrictions on speech, publication, teaching, and public communication.
