We are happy to announce Spartak Khachanov (Kiev) as the first resident at AR-Radar Sofia, an independent art hub located in Bulgaria’s capital. Radar Sofia has joined the Artists at Risk (AR) network of AR-Safe Haven Residencies. As part of the AR-Network it will be supported by the AR-Secretariat, funded by Kone Foundation. Khachanov is a sculptor who will be resident at Radar Sofia until late June 2019.

The first residency will begin in April 2019 as part of the Immigré Artists (IA) and Artists at Risk (AR)-Nordic Network curated by Perpetuum Mobile (PM) and funded by Nordic Culture Point.

From January to April Spartak Khachanov was an Artists-at-Risk (AR) Resident co-hosted by Perpetuum Mobile (PM) and HIAP on the island of Suomenlinna, Helsinki.

ARTISTS at RISK (AR) is an institution at the intersection of human rights and the arts. AR is dedicated to mapping the field of persecuted visual art practitioners, facilitating their safe passage from their countries of origin and hosting them at “AR-Residencies” so that they can continue their practice.
