Artists at Risk (AR) is excited to welcome Art Veda to the AR-Network.

This new Artists at Risk (AR) Safe Haven Residency has already been active as an independent and dedicated host of Remi Sarmini, a Syrian theatre  director and actor. Sarmini had applied to AR and was invited to an AR-Residency in Munich and Helsinki, but was unfortunately denied a Schengen visa to Germany and Finland. AR subsequently connected him to  Art Veda, who hosted Sarmini in Tunis independently, without AR funding in the first instance.

Perpetuum Mobile (PM) invited Art Veda to join its application to the new network “Artists at Risk (AR) – A European Network of Safe Havens (AR-ENSH)” as an EU partner. This is the first round of Creative Europe funding of the European Union in which Tunisia partners are eligible for participation. We are proud to be among the first to have included a Tunisian partner in a successful application!

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Sarmini and other residents at ArtVeda have been receiving help from the COVID-19 EMERGENCY FUND

Art Veda is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting art and culture in the daily life of all global citizens. Based in Tunis, it is made up of individuals with great potential from different fields who all share a common goal: to promote cultural diversity and the freedom and accessibility of art. Art Veda has won the support of a vast network of activists and formal associations who work in culture, art, and human rights.
