With the support of the UNESCO Heritage Emergency Fund and the UNESCO-Aschberg Programme for Artists and Cultural Professionals since 2022, Artists at Risk (AR) has been working to host artists and cultural professionals displaced by the war.
In 2022, 38 female artists from Ukrainian were given AR-Residencies in countries across Europe and beyond. This included at major institutions such as ZKM in Karlsruhe, KW in Berlin or Galleria Continua in Paris, as well as many amazing small and artist-run initiatives from southern Portugal to northern Finland.
Each of the AR-UNESCO Residents has their own story to tell. This online publication documents their myriad artistic, cultural, media, social and very personal narratives.
